Introduction

After spending a large part of his life in the world of football as a competitive athlete, in 2009 Jacopo enrolled in the faculty of sports science at the “Foro Italico” University in Rome. During his first academic year, he underwent the surgical reconstruction of his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), and after a long rehabilitation process he became passionate about that topic to the point that he presented a dissertation on the recovery of strength following ACL reconstruction. After obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree, he enrolled in the international master’s titled: “European Master in health and physical activity” at the same university, completing it in 2013 with an empirical dissertation on the motor programming of jump-landings tasks in ACL reconstructed subjects.

In 2014, he was awarded a scholarship for a Ph.D. in Physiology (BIO / 09) presenting and developing a research project based on the analysis of the neuromuscular control of jumping-landing maneuvers in subjects who had undergone ACL reconstruction. In 2018, he received a Ph.D. in Human Movement and Sport Sciences with a dissertation titled: “Motor control of landings after Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) reconstruction”. As of 2017 he has been the supervisor -with the role of professor- in the courses “Movement therapy and physical activity for elderly and special population” and “Specialized teaching and internship on physical activity in disease prevention and rehabilitation” in the LM67-INT international master’s degree course where he was formerly a student. Since 2014 he has been the director of the “Functional assessment laboratory” at the “Villa Stuart” sports clinic in Rome where in partnership with the “Foro Italico” University he carries out research and development. His research focuses on recovery and functional assessment following orthopedic injury and surgery and on developing new rehabilitation approaches.
