    End of the module

A module part of a Certificate

This single module is part of a broader Certificate, the Strength & Conditioning (S&C) Certificate by NOVAVIA Project, that is organised in 2 modules, for a total of 42 ECM:

Check out all the modules’ editions of the Strength & Conditioning (S&C) Certificate - scroll down to find dates and locations details.

Only attending all the program’s modules will lead to receive the Strength & Conditioning (S&C) Certificate by NOVAVIA Project.

Module description

This 3-days module provides therapists and allied practitioners an opportunity to build a greater understanding of the key themes within Strength & Conditioning. Those who have completed the Module A – S&C Certificate will develop a greater awareness of applying a performance backwards approach with specific reference to movement-based methods. Those completing Module B without Module A will be provide the opportunity to explore effective needs analyses and the principle of a performance backwards approach. The emphasis will be around movement and coordination adaptations and the principles and application of plyometrics, speed and change of direction exercises. This includes understanding common faults and corrective strategies aligned to these. Time will also be spent on understanding appropriate assessments.

The course has been designed to align to the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist Job Task Analysis Summary).

The module will allow attendees to build on their current knowledge and experiences by providing problem based and decision-making learning frameworks to assist in individual learning outcomes.

Learning objectives

  • Expose attendees to the principles of an individual and event needs analysis aligned to movement and coordination adaptation and speed and change of direction training
  • Provide opportunities for attendees to apply a needs analysis using a performance backwards approach
  • Expose attendees to the fundamental movement and coordination adaptations of plyometric, speed and change of direction modalities
  • Provide opportunities for attendees to practice plyometric, speed and change of direction exercises and identify common faults with corrective strategies
  • Provide problem-based learning to challenge planning, programming and assessments aligned to the movement and coordination adaptations
