Course description

Patient outcomes are influenced by a litany of variables, including the patient's health, their cognitions, emotions, social situation, as well as their biological factors. Most courses oversimplify how outcomes are changed; the courses assume that a particular intervention will lead to a particular outcome. Presenting care in this fashion is unrealistic and does not reflect what happens in the real world.

This course breaks down how outcomes are changed and addresses the multiplicity of factors that influences one’s care. The course includes some of the recent work that has modeled the influence of selected patient characteristics on outcomes and is designed to assist in targeting the right interventions for the best outcomes.

This course is divided into three sections:

  1. An overview of factors that influence outcomes
  2. Evidence-Based examination methods
  3. Evidence-Based treatment measures

The course focuses on "how" the patient's outcomes improve and the best mechanisms for promoting that improvement. It also addresses the best assessment variables and discusses what the evidence suggests at this time.
